Couples without dependent children can seek the services of an accredited family mediator in order to find the best possible agreement for them and to facilitate a separation or divorce. Couples will have to pay for any incurred professional fees as agreed upon by the parties.
Couples with dependent children can seek from the services of an accredited family mediator in order to find the best possible agreement for them and their children and to facilitate a separation or divorce. Couples can benefit from the services of a family mediator in conformity with the law enacted by the Québec Minister of Justice on September 1, 1997.
This regulation allows couples with dependant children, whether married or not, to receive services from a professional mediator when negotiating their separation, divorce or revision of an existing judgment.
